Silver and gold prices have risen significantly over the past few years — and with them, the cost of handmade jewelry that uses these materials at our level of detail.

Alternative Metals is our response to that. The same BlackTreeLab designs, the same hand-sculpted wax originals — cast in brass instead of silver or gold. The result is a lower price point without compromising the design or the craft behind it.

Brass is a durable material that takes oxidized, black, and gold-plated finishes well. It is heavier than silver, with a warmer base tone. Some people with metal sensitivities may react to brass — if that applies to you, the sterling silver or gold versions of each piece are available in the main collection.
