Pear Cabochon Colombian Emerald in a 14K Rose Gold Twig Band — A Single Piece, Made Once
This ring exists because of the stone. A 12×5mm pear cabochon Colombian emerald, fresh green, polished smooth with internal lines that run visibly through it. A cabochon cut suits a stone like this — where a faceted cut would fracture the internal structure into flashes, the smooth dome lets you look straight into it and follow the lines as they are. Emeralds of this size are usually either heavily included or priced beyond reach. This one sits between the two, and the ring was designed around it rather than the other way round.
The band is thin and organic, formed as textured twigs in 14K rose gold with a few small leaves. The twigs stay matte; the leaves are polished to a shine. The warm tone of rose gold sits well against the green. The contrast between matte and polished is what gives the ring its movement — light catches the leaves while the branch texture stays underneath. The bezel is worked in the same style, an uneven organic rim rather than a clean band, so the setting belongs to the branch structure instead of sitting on top of it.
Because it was made for one stone, this ring exists in a single size — 9 US — and cannot be resized.
Each piece begins with hand-sculpted wax modeling in our BlackTreeLab workshop, then is cast in solid 14K rose gold and finished individually. Solid 14K gold contains 58.3% pure gold alloyed for strength — in rose gold the alloy is copper-rich, which gives the metal its pink tone and makes it marginally harder than yellow gold. It is resistant to scratching, and stable against humidity and daily wear. It does not darken or wear away the way plated metals do.
